Brian Littrell is a singer and songwriter from the United States, famous for being part of the iconic boy band Backstreet Boys. In the 90s and early 2000s, his success grew rapidly thanks to the group created by producer Lou Pearlman.
The diagnosis that changed his career
However, in 2015, it was revealed that Brian was facing a problem that was affecting his music career.
In the documentary Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of (2015), it was revealed that the singer suffers from Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD), a disorder that makes it difficult to use the voice due to excessive tension in the neck muscles.
A noticeable problem during his latest performance
This problem caught attention again at a recent event. On February 14, the Backstreet Boys performed at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert and thrilled the audience with their famous song I Want It That Way. However, although the performance was special, many fans noticed that Brian had difficulties singing, which raised concerns about his health.
Is there a cure for Muscle Tension Dysphonia?
Doctors explain that MTD has no cure, but treatments do exist. Vocal therapy is the best option to help improve voice control and reduce symptoms, although the road is not always easy.
