CNE Postpones Elections in Venezuela: New Date Set for May 25

The National Electoral Council (CNE) announced this Wednesday that the elections for governors, the National Assembly (AN), and legislative councils, originally scheduled for April 27, will take place on Sunday, May 25.

CNE President Elvis Amoroso explained in a press conference that the decision was made following requests from various sectors participating in the elections.

Reasons for the Date Change

According to Amoroso, this change aims to encourage greater participation from different social groups.

“The CNE has decided that the second popular consultation to select projects for the communal circuits will take place on Sunday, April 27. Meanwhile, elections for the AN, governors, and legislative councils will be held on May 25,” he stated.

He also mentioned that this adjustment was made in response to suggestions from various political and social actors and was approved by all CNE authorities.
