Colombia Tightens Border Regulations for Venezuelans: Passport and PPT Conditions Explained

Migración Colombia has updated the requirements that airlines must demand from Venezuelan travelers wishing to board flights to Colombia. According to the new regulations, Venezuelan citizens must present a valid passport with a minimum validity of 10 years. Additionally, the Temporary Protection Permit (PPT) may also be presented, as long as it is valid.

However, if the PPT is used, the airline must inform the passenger that upon arrival in Colombia, they will be attended to by immigration authorities, who will review their situation. If irregularities are found, the PPT may be canceled immediately.

Requirements for All Foreign Travelers

Migración Colombia has also specified that all foreign travelers must have a ticket for departure from the country. However, this requirement does not apply to Venezuelans who hold a Colombian visa valid for more than six months or a PPT.

Despite these exceptions, Venezuelan travelers must still demonstrate financial solvency and not be involved in causes that prevent their admission into the country.

The statement sent to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) clarifies that Venezuelan citizens who have been deported, expelled, or inadmitted by other countries and attempt to enter Colombia will be rejected.
