Daddy Yankee’s Divorce Turns Messy: $100 Million Dispute Over Business Control

The singer Daddy Yankee and his wife of nearly 30 years, Mireddys González, officially finalized their divorce this Tuesday. Despite this change, they are still fighting in court over control of two of the artist’s companies.

Mireddys González Speaks About Her New Beginning

Mireddys González shared her feelings in an Instagram post, saying:

“I am proud of myself. No one knows how much it cost me to let go of people I loved, to say NO when I was dying to say YES, to wake up early, give myself a pat on the back, and motivate myself when I was feeling my lowest. So thank you, but I don’t want to go back anymore. I am grateful for the lessons and experiences because without them, I wouldn’t be the woman I am TODAY.”

The Fight for Control of the Companies

The marriage officially ended due to “irreparable breakdown,” according to court documents. This time, the hearing was held via video call, so neither had to appear in person.

Judge Eva Soto of the Court of First Instance in Carolina, Puerto Rico, signed the order on January 31. The separation was confirmed in December after months of rumors, which intensified when the couple stopped following each other on social media.

The battle over Daddy Yankee’s companies continues, as the singer disagrees with a judge’s decision to close the case regarding El Cartel Records and Los Cangris Inc. The reason for the dispute is that the singer has not yet received all the necessary information about the companies.

The conflict escalated when Mireddys González’s sisters, without Daddy Yankee’s permission, transferred $100 million from corporate accounts to personal accounts. To address the situation, the singer hired a banking security firm, CCG Consultants LLC, led by former FBI chief in Puerto Rico, Carlos Cases Gallardo. His goal is to bring order to his businesses.
