Opposition leader María Corina Machado reaffirmed this Monday that Nicolás Maduro will not remain in power and that his departure will happen “with or without negotiation”. During a press conference broadcast on social media, Machado made it clear that her fight is for a free and prosperous Venezuela, where all families can live better.
Maduro’s departure is essential
Machado assured that to achieve this goal, it is crucial for Maduro to leave the presidency. “If we don’t defeat him and remove him from power, we won’t achieve the country we want,” she stated. She also called on Venezuelans to maintain their strength and conviction, as she believes this is a crucial moment for the country.
A direct message to the citizens
The opposition leader urged people to stop listening to fraudsters and losers. She acknowledged that feeling sadness and frustration about the current situation is normal but insisted on the importance of moving forward with determination.
According to Machado, the key is to weaken and fracture chavismo’s support. “This strategy is more relevant than ever. We know the world is constantly changing, but we stand firm: Maduro will leave with or without negotiation,” she declared.
Four phases to achieve change
Machado explained that the opposition’s strategy has been divided into four stages:
- Building real strength.
- Demonstrating chavismo’s defeat in the July 28 elections.
- International isolation of Maduro’s government.
- Removing him from power.
Currently, according to Machado, the country is in the fourth phase, the most decisive one.
The fight against repression
Although the opposition has made progress, Machado acknowledged that Maduro remains clinging to power thanks to his repressive structure. “We are working to dismantle this apparatus of terror,” she stated.
She explained that they have developed a plan of action with international allies to cut chavismo’s resources and weaken its repressive system.
Three pillars to strengthen the opposition
To advance her strategy, Machado highlighted three key actions:
- Civic organization.
- Strengthening the “Ganó Venezuela” alliance.
- Ongoing contact with international allies.
“We have maintained communication with Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Even before Donald Trump took office, we had been working with key individuals on the Venezuela issue,” she affirmed.
Relations with the United States and international allies
Machado confirmed that communication with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been ongoing. Additionally, she assured that the Trump administration understands Venezuela’s situation.
Finally, she reiterated her commitment to seeking international support to bring about change in Venezuela. “This is a matter for Venezuelans, but we need our allies to take key actions,” she concluded.
