New Headquarters for Issuing Driver’s Licenses in Edomex: Fast and Efficient

The Government of the State of Mexico inaugurated a new module in Ecatepec de Morelos to facilitate the issuance and renewal of driver’s licenses. This initiative aims to provide faster and more accessible services to drivers in one of the country’s most populated regions.

Daniel Sibaja González, Secretary of Mobility, highlighted that this module is an example of efficient government work, as it does not require rental costs or building adaptation expenses. Meanwhile, Azucena Cisneros Coss, mayor of Ecatepec, emphasized the importance of this project in benefiting the residents of the country’s largest municipality.

Where is the new module located?

The module is located inside the Paseo Ventura Shopping Center, on Insurgentes Avenue in the Las Américas neighborhood. It will serve more than 250 people daily, with the goal of benefiting over 50,000 users during 2025.

The service hours are from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the space features modern facilities designed to streamline processes. Additionally, it includes a lactation room for mothers, reaffirming the government’s commitment to social inclusion and family well-being.

Innovation: Hybrid system and self-service

The module also features a “hybrid” system with a self-service kiosk, enabling license renewals in less than 10 minutes without the need for direct staff assistance. Alejandro Palacios Estrada, Director of the Registry of Licenses and Operators at the Mobility Secretariat (SEMOV), explained that this technology is part of a state program to modernize public services and increase productivity.

In 2024, over 988,000 licenses were issued in the State of Mexico. Of these, 900,000 were for private use, and 88,000 for public transportation, generating revenues exceeding 1.069 billion pesos.

The government led by Delfina Gómez promotes projects that combine technology and quality to improve public services. This new module in Ecatepec not only modernizes the process of obtaining licenses but also ensures more efficient and convenient access for all users.
