Out of Control Fire in Arauca After Explosion Attributed to the ELN

On Monday, January 13th, a powerful explosion sparked a massive fire in the area known as “Ye”, in the municipality of Tame, Arauca. According to available information, the attack was carried out by the National Liberation Army (ELN), through its Eastern War Front. Although no victims were reported, the incident caused serious environmental and material damage in the region.

An explosion that triggered a disaster

According to initial reports, the explosive device was activated in an area with dry vegetation, which caused the fire to spread rapidly. The fire engulfed several hectares of land, affecting both wildlife and domestic animals. In addition, the crops of farmers in the rural area of the La Holanda district, near the site of the incident, were also severely damaged.

Actions to stop the fire

In response to the emergency, local authorities implemented protocols to try to control the fire and reduce its impact. The National Army deployed troops to the area to ensure security, while the National Police intensified their operations in the municipality to protect the residents and prevent the incident from recurring.
