Padrino López’s Response to Calls for Military Intervention

Venezuela’s Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, made it clear this Wednesday that the country will take firm measures against those who call for military intervention, both inside and outside Venezuela’s borders.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, Padrino stated: “The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) are ready to defend our sovereignty, freedom, democracy, and our Constitution.”

The official made this statement while overseeing a military exercise involving tanks and troops as part of the Bolivarian Shield 2025 maneuvers. In the video, he also explained that the exercise’s goal is to enhance the “synchronization” of all weapon systems and ensure troop cohesion.

Preparations for National Defense

Since Wednesday, Venezuela has been mobilizing around 150,000 personnel to conduct the first military and police exercises of the year, extending through Thursday. The goal of these exercises is to strengthen the defense of “internal order” and ensure the country is “impregnable.”

The Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, Domingo Hernández Lárez, explained during a live broadcast that 290 “strategic exercises” are being conducted in Caracas and across the country. These exercises focus particularly on border control, maintaining order, and protecting critical infrastructure, such as ports and airports. Additionally, the governors of Venezuela’s 23 regions, alongside local military leaders, have been given “territorial priorities” to better coordinate defense activities.

Strengthening Defense with Diverse Resources

As part of these exercises, the FANB deployed a variety of military equipment, including 159 naval assets, 50 aircraft, and 250 heavy military vehicles. This is part of a strategy to ensure the country is fully prepared and “ready” to defend its territory. Padrino López reiterated this sentiment recently, warning of “internal and external enemies” that could threaten national security.

This impressive military display aims to improve operational efficiency and boost troop morale, ensuring Venezuela can effectively respond to any threats.
