President Bukele Supports the Fight for Freedom in Venezuela

The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, expressed his support for the Venezuelan people in their fight for freedom. This was confirmed by opposition leader María Corina Machado, who had a conversation with the Salvadoran president, where he expressed his backing.

A Conversation of Support and Admiration

María Corina Machado shared:

“I just spoke with President Nayib Bukele, who conveyed his admiration and support for the Venezuelan people in their fight for freedom. He also demanded respect for the popular sovereignty expressed on July 28.”

This refers to the victory claimed by the opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia in the contested presidential elections held that day.

Machado also expressed her gratitude for Bukele’s strong commitment to Venezuela’s democracy, showing solidarity with the opposition cause.

Bukele’s Commitment to Venezuelan Democracy

In a post on the social media platform X, Machado thanked Bukele for his government’s commitment to Venezuelan democracy. The Salvadoran president was one of the first to reject the official results of Venezuela’s elections, announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which is controlled by the chavista government.

Rejection of the “Electoral Fraud”

The CNE declared Nicolás Maduro the winner of the elections, granting him re-election. However, Bukele called this process an “electoral fraud”. Additionally, El Salvador announced it would not restore diplomatic relations with Venezuela until the country holds free and fair elections.

On Sunday, Bukele shared Machado’s message on his social media, displaying the flags of both countries as a symbol of support and solidarity.

Opposition Denounces a Coup

Venezuela’s main opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), along with González Urrutia and Machado, accused Maduro of carrying out a “coup” by taking office for a third consecutive term.

According to the opposition, this act does not reflect the will of the Venezuelan people but instead represents an imposition of an authoritarian regime.

International Community Rejects Maduro’s Re-election

The international community has also expressed its disapproval of Maduro’s re-election. Countries such as the United States, Peru, Paraguay, and the European Union have stated that they do not recognize the legitimacy of this new term.

González Urrutia Ready to Return to Venezuela

Edmundo González Urrutia, who claims to be the true winner of the July 28 elections, assured that he is ready to return to Venezuela safely.

In a recent statement, González Urrutia said:

Maduro has violated the Constitution and the will of the Venezuelan people expressed on July 28. He has self-proclaimed himself dictator.”

The opposition leader also made it clear that he represents the will of almost 8 million Venezuelans who voted in the elections, as well as those who were unable to vote abroad.
