Are you a fan of the One Chicago universe? If you’ve been eagerly waiting for the new episodes of “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago Med”, and “Chicago PD”, you’ll have to wait another week. Although these new episodes were scheduled to air on January 15th, NBC has decided to delay them due to a special broadcast. The reason: President Joe Biden’s farewell speech.
Biden’s Farewell Speech Changes the Schedule
NBC has confirmed that Biden’s farewell speech will be broadcast live on January 15th at 8:00 p.m. ET. This speech is part of the activities leading up to the inauguration of the incoming President Donald Trump, which is scheduled for January 20th.
The speech will occupy the first 15 minutes of prime time. After this broadcast, instead of the new episodes of the three One Chicago shows, reruns of previous episodes will be aired. Here’s what the schedule will look like for that day:
New Schedule for January 15th
- 8:00 p.m. ET: Biden’s Farewell Speech
- 8:15 p.m. ET: Rerun of “Trust Fall” (Chicago Med)
- 9:00 p.m. ET: Rerun of “All Kinds of Crazy” (Chicago Fire)
- 10:00 p.m. ET: Rerun of “Off Switch” (Chicago PD)
When Will the New Episodes Return?
Although fans will have to wait a little longer, NBC has already confirmed that the new episodes of the three shows will return on January 22nd. On that day, we’ll get to enjoy:
- Chicago Med: “Broken Hearts” (8:00 p.m. ET)
- Chicago Fire: “Chaos Theory” (9:00 p.m. ET)
- Chicago PD: “Zoe” (10:00 p.m. ET)
The Big Crossover on January 29th
Although the episodes are delayed, not all is lost. NBC is still going ahead with the much-anticipated special crossover event that will include all three One Chicago shows. This event will air on January 29th, and here’s what we’ll get to see:
- Chicago Fire: “In the Trenches: Part 1” (8:00 p.m. ET)
- Chicago Med: “In the Trenches: Part 2” (9:00 p.m. ET)
- Chicago PD: “In the Trenches: Part 3” (10:00 p.m. ET)
Why This Schedule Change?
NBC, being a network known for airing political events and live sports, has decided to prioritize Biden’s speech. This is a historic moment, marking the end of one presidency and the start of a new one, which makes it worthy of prime time broadcast.
