Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, shared some great news this Tuesday: her cancer is in remission. This is a huge relief for her and her family, as less than a year after publicly revealing her diagnosis, she has overcome one of the toughest stages of her life.
In a post on her X account (formerly Twitter), Kate expressed her relief and happiness about this progress in her recovery.
“It’s a relief to be in remission now, and I’m still focused on my recovery,” she wrote.
She also pointed out something many people understand: adjusting to a new normal after a cancer diagnosis takes time.
“However, I hope the next year will be fruitful. There’s so much to look forward to. Thank you all for your continued support,” she added.
A Difficult Year for the Princess but One of Progress
Kate publicly revealed her battle with cancer in March of last year, announcing that she would begin chemotherapy treatment. In September, she shared that she had completed her treatment and was focused on staying “cancer-free”. Although she hasn’t provided details about the type of cancer or her treatment, she has kept her medical situation private, which the public has respected. Now, with the announcement of her remission, many have expressed their support and joy.
A Surprise Visit with Deep Meaning
Hours before announcing that her cancer is in remission, Kate surprised everyone with a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she received her chemotherapy treatment.
This visit was special because the princess wanted to personally thank the medical team that cared for her during those difficult times.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Kate commented on how pleasant it was to enter through the main door again after having been there for many private visits. “It’s quite nice,” she said with a smile, acknowledging the support she received from the hospital.
Conversations with Patients and Personal Advice
During her visit to the hospital, Kate took the time to chat with several patients, listening to their stories and sharing hers. With one patient, who was also undergoing chemotherapy, Kate deeply empathized.
“It’s a shock. I was told that maintaining a positive attitude can make a big difference,” she shared.
The princess also spoke about the challenges patients face once treatment ends. “Getting back to normal afterward isn’t easy,” she said, emphasizing how important it is to find joy in the little things and enjoy everyday moments.
Recognizing the Work of the Medical Staff
During her visit, Kate also spoke with doctors and nurses at the hospital, acknowledging the importance of ongoing care. For her, clinical and emotional care must be continuous, not only for the patients but also for their families. Throughout the visit, she emphasized how the effects of treatment can last beyond the days of chemotherapy, and how crucial ongoing support is for everyone involved in the recovery process.
